The future of American talent Cavan Sullivan's transfer to Manchester City is in doubt due to the ruling against the English club in the financial misconduct case. This comes as interest from other European clubs, including FC Barcelona, has emerged.

Cavan Sullivan, aged 17, has reached a pre-agreement with Manchester City to join the club in 2027, after turning 18 in September, following his impressive performances with Philadelphia.

The recent developments come after Manchester City have been found guilty of all charges related to financial rule violations in the Premier League from the 2009-2010 season to the 2017-2018 season, while the club awaits the outcome of the appeal and potential penalties, which could range from point deductions and relegation to being stripped of some of their titles, according to the report.

Cavan Sullivan, who is considered one of the top rising talents in American football, has delivered remarkable performances during the 2026 season, having scored 10 goals and assisted another 10 in 31 matches across various competitions.

Cavan Sullivan has joined the US national team under Maurício Pochettino, playing three international matches and scoring a goal during the 3-0 victory over Mexico on October 4, making him the youngest player to score in the history of the US national team. European clubs are showing interest in monitoring his situation in case his transfer to Manchester City falls through.
