AFC Bournemouth agree to sell Alex Scott for £100 million on conditions
The British network "BBC" reported that AFC Bournemouth are open to selling English midfielder Alex Scott during the upcoming January transfer window for £100 million, provided their financial demands are met and the team's position in the Premier League is taken into account.
According to the report, the 23-year-old player is seeking to leave AFC Bournemouth since the end of last season, after rejecting two contract renewal offers. However, the club has maintained its stance against selling during the summer transfer window and has rejected interest shown by several clubs, including the top six clubs in England.
The report clarified that AFC Bournemouth may allow Alex Scott to leave if they receive a £100 million offer in January, but his position could change if the team finds itself threatened with relegation, as they would then need to retain the player to help ensure survival in the Premier League.
Chelsea have made an initial offer of £60 million for the player, which could rise to £64 million with add-ons, but AFC Bournemouth rejected it. Chelsea and Liverpool remain interested in signing the player, while Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham have turned to other options.
Liverpool may have a potential advantage due to the close relationships between their coach Andoni Iraola, Scott, and Bournemouth officials, while Chelsea has previously received encouraging signals from the player's representatives regarding the possibility of completing the deal.
Alex Scott is currently sidelined due to a thigh injury sustained during England's 7-0 victory over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League, and he is expected to be out for at least a month.
The player joined AFC Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023 for £25 million, and is contracted to the club until 2028. He has scored seven goals and provided seven assists in 95 matches for the team across all competitions.
