Ernesto Valverde in line to manage Manchester United if Carrick departs
Ernesto Valverde has entered the list of candidates to coach Manchester United following Michael Carrick, after ESPN praised the Spanish coach's suitability for the English team.
Garim Pilly has clarified that Manchester United are not planning to sack Carrick at this time, with continued support from the "INEOS" group, despite the team gathering only 5 points from their first 5 matches in the Premier League.
Manchester United have also been linked with Antonio Conte and Eddie Howe, but "ESPN" believes that Valverde is a suitable option, based on his experience with clubs such as Athletic Bilbao, FC Barcelona, Villarreal, and Olympiacos, along with his LaLiga titles with FC Barcelona in 2018 and 2019.
Valverde's style combines possession and quick attacks, relying on wingers, attacking full-backs, and tactical flexibility.
He is also less strict in relying on centre-backs to build play from the back, which may suit Manchester United.
