Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary former manager of Manchester United, has spoken candidly about death and his difficult health experiences, confirming that the idea of death crosses his mind from time to time, in his new memoir, "Games of My Life", which was released today.

Ferguson said in excerpts from his memoirs: "I am not one of those people who worry about what my Creator has in store for me, nor am I afraid of death. However, from time to time, death crosses my mind."

In discussing the new Manchester United stadium project that will accommodate 100,000 spectators, he expressed hope for swift progress, stating: "I hope they start work quickly, because if it takes five years, I will be nearing ninety. But I know I will be present at the opening ceremony in one way or another, either in person or in spirit."

Scottish manager Sir Alex Ferguson recalled the details of his brain hemorrhage in 2018, stating that his life was 'dangerously close to the end.' Ferguson underwent emergency surgery before beginning a long recovery journey, taking four to five days to regain his ability to speak with the help of a specialist therapist, while he needed most of the summer of 2018 for physical therapy and to regain his health.

Ferguson revealed that his late wife Cathy played a crucial role in saving his life after she heard him fall in their home. She was downstairs when she heard the sound of his shoe hitting the shoe rack after his fall. Cathy passed away in 2023 at the age of 84, after a marriage that lasted since 1966.

Sir Alex Ferguson wrote about his late wife in touching words: "I may have managed Manchester United, but Cathy was the one who managed Ferguson United. Cathy was not just the manager; she was also the CEO, the assistant coach, the team doctor, the kit manager, and the club ambassador."
