Ronaldo was considering international retirement as Jesus broke his agreement with him

Pedro Souza, a journalist at "Média Livre" owned by Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, revealed new details about the current crisis between the Portugal captain and coach Jorge Jesus, confirming that Ronaldo had indeed considered retiring from international football after the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Souza has revealed that Jorge Jesus and the president of the Portuguese Football Federation asked Ronaldo to continue with the national team, and they managed to convince him to continue his international career, before agreeing on a specific work plan for the four matches during the current international break.

A journalist reported that the plan that was agreed upon did not include Cristiano Ronaldo's participation in the second and third matches, but things have changed during the current international break.

Souza has revealed that Jesus informed Ronaldo before the second match against Norway that he would play for 30 minutes. The coach then went further after the end of the match, telling the player that he would also participate against Denmark in the third round.

The journalist added: "Cristiano Ronaldo did a lot to make Jorge Jesus the coach of the national team, but the coach is now behaving differently from what was agreed upon with Ronaldo in August, before the squad announcement."

Souza continued, criticizing the current situation: "If Jesus wants, he should clarify what has been agreed upon, because what is happening right now is not beautiful."

Cristiano Ronaldo has left the Portugal national team's camp following a press conference held by Jesus ahead of the match against Denmark. Meanwhile, reports have claimed that Ronaldo has indeed decided to retire from international football.
