Mbappé: I cherish my Algerian and Cameroonian roots

Kylian Mbappé has affirmed his pride in his African roots, emphasizing that his Algerian and Cameroonian heritage has remained present in his life and upbringing, despite being born and raised in France.

Mbappé spoke about his connection to his African roots: "They are my roots. I have always received an upbringing based on African culture, even though I was born in France and have lived my whole life there."

The star of the France national team stressed that he has not severed ties with his roots, explaining: "I have never cut off my connection to my Algerian and Cameroonian roots. I believe this is important, as roots form part of a person's identity and the values that are instilled in them."

Kylian Mbappé has recalled his memories of the African continent, mentioning his recent visit to Cameroon. He said: "I recently returned to Cameroon, and I used to go there a lot when I was young. Those were truly wonderful moments, and I had special times there."

He added: "Every time I go to Africa, I find a warm welcome and great love from the people, and that is very important. To feel the support of an entire continent in this way is very moving and rewarding."

Kylian Mbappé has expressed his interest in following African football, highlighting his enjoyment of watching Africa Cup of Nations matches. He said: "I love watching the matches, and the Africa Cup of Nations was an excellent tournament. I was very happy, and of course, I went to support my friends, but I also wanted to follow many matches."
