Journalist Ian Hawkey, in an article for the British newspaper "The Times", has warned young English talent J.J. Gabriel against rushing into a decision to move to Real Madrid, urging him to learn from the experience of Norwegian Martin Ødegaard, who joined the Spanish giants at a young age amid high expectations for an exceptional future.

Martin Ødegaard joined Real Madrid in 2015, when he was 16 years old, but faced significant difficulties in securing regular opportunities with the first team, having to spend long periods with the reserve team before going on several loan spells in search of playing minutes to help him develop his level.

The Norwegian star was unable to establish himself in the Real Madrid lineup, as he made just one start with the first team before turning 18. He later moved to Arsenal, where he received the opportunity he needed and became one of the standout players and captain of the London club.

The main message conveyed by the article is that joining a club as big as Real Madrid does not necessarily guarantee a fast track to the first team, especially for young players who need regular participation to gain experience and maturity.

Hokey believes Gabriel, regarded as one of the top rising talents at Manchester United, must carefully consider his options and not be drawn solely to the name of Real Madrid and its stature, as ensuring playing opportunities and development may be more important than an early move to one of the biggest clubs in the world.
