Hamza Abdel Karim: I work every day for my chance with Barcelona, and I am not ashamed of it

Egyptian Hamza Abdel Karim, forward for Barcelona, has renewed his contract with the club until June 30, 2030, in a move that reflects the club's confidence in his abilities and future. This comes just three months after Barcelona activated the option to buy him from Al Ahly for €1.5 million.

Hamza spoke about his future with the first team, confirming that he is aware of the many aspects he needs to develop, but he is eager to make the most of every opportunity he gets under the management of Hans Flick.

Hamza said: "I have work to do, I need to continue developing the things I was already good at, and at the same time adapt more to Barcelona's style, which is unique in the world."

He added: "When I get the chance, I want to make the most of it."

Regarding the possibility of playing with Barcelona Atlético, the Egyptian forward clarified: "I don't think playing with the reserve team is out of the question, I don't know if I will play with them, but I don't think I should avoid it, and I shouldn't feel ashamed if I play with the reserve team."

He continued: "It is very important to get minutes, score goals, train with the first team, and prove myself on the pitch or wherever that may be, with the first team, the reserve team, or the national team. I work every day for that."

Hamza praised the support he has received since arriving at Barcelona, saying: "I have felt their support since day one, from all the coaching staff. This dressing room feels like family; they are looking for things to improve in my style for my development. I have a desire to come to training every morning."

The Egyptian forward also spoke about Lamine Yamal and his chances of winning the Ballon d'Or, saying: "There are many players in the team who can win it, and they deserve it, but we can all agree that Lamine winning it would be very deserved. I am very happy to play with him every day."

Regarding the comparison with Erling Haaland and the nickname "the Nile Haaland", Hamza responded: "Haaland is a great striker, amazing at scoring goals and being in the right place to score them. You can always learn from great players, and I love being given this nickname."

Hamza concluded his remarks by recalling his first memory with Barcelona, explaining: "It was a European night I experienced in front of the television with my brother, when Barcelona pulled off a comeback against Paris Saint-Germain, winning 6-1 in the UEFA Champions League in 2017. I was eight years old."
