Kompany: We deserved to win, and that's why the duo didn't start

Vincent Kompany, the head coach of Bayern Munich, explained that his team deserved to come away with all three points against Schalke, but they failed to capitalize on the chances that came their way during the goalless draw between the two teams in the second round of the Bundesliga.

Vincent Kompany said after the match: "I congratulate Schalke, they fought hard for the point. We had good moments and created big chances. When you face a cohesive and aggressive team like that, you have to take your chances. We could have won the match, but congratulations to Schalke, and next time we need to score our goals."

He added: "Every match has its own story, and unfortunately, today's story was that we couldn't score. This does not diminish Schalke's performance, as they fought hard and closed down spaces well. On the other hand, the counter-pressing we did was exceptional today."

Bayern Munich's coach addressed the reason for not including Harry Kane and Olli in the starting lineup, stating: "It was simply a logical decision. They returned very, very late from vacation, and the match against Osnabrück cost them a lot of energy. The priority was to have them available for that match because it was in the DFB-Pokal, and after that, I had to make a decision regarding today's match."

Kompany concluded his statements by saying: "They are still not ready to bear the full workload, so the decision was logical."
