Effenberg and Norweirer defend Kimmich after Klopp's decision
Experts from the German network 'Sport 1', Stefan Effenberg and Peter Neururer, have confirmed that Germany captain Joshua Kimmich should retain his place in the national team. This comes after coach Jürgen Klopp's decision to exclude him from the matches against Serbia and Greece in the UEFA Nations League.
Stefan Effenberg said during the "Doppelpass" program: "The captain of the German national team must always be a regular starter," in a clear stance regarding the ongoing debate about Kimmich's future with the national team.
For his part, Norwair agreed with his teammate, stating: "If he is fit, he should always be in the national team squad. Even when the captain is not participating, he plays a certain role within the team."
Jurgen Klopp's decision not to rely on Joshua Kimmich in the matches has raised questions about the Bayern Munich player's status, especially after the impressive victory over Serbia by 2-0, where Florian Wirtz, Tom Bischof, and Aleksandar Pavlovic delivered outstanding performances, raising the possibility of Kimmich losing his starting position.
This comes as Klopp continues to reshape the German national team, amid increasing competition for midfield positions. However, Effenberg and Norurer stressed the importance of Kimmich, not only as a player but also as a leader for the national team.
