Sunderland close to sealing Igor Paixão deal as Olympique Marseille resist
Sunderland are close to reaching an agreement with Olympique Marseille regarding the transfer fee for Brazilian winger Igor Paixão, as the English club has intensified its efforts to finalize the deal before the transfer window closes.
Sunderland have made an official offer of up to €40 million, which includes €31 million as a fixed amount, along with €9 million in add-ons and incentives, in an attempt to convince Olympique Marseille to part with the player.
Baïchao has indeed reached an agreement regarding personal terms with Sunderland and has shown openness to a move to the Premier League, but Olympique Marseille is still resisting his departure and is trying to retain the Brazilian winger, especially given his value within the team.
Negotiations between the two clubs continue at present, with optimism about reaching a final agreement as the transfer window deadline approaches in England. Meanwhile, Olympique Marseille remains the last obstacle to completing the transfer of Baïchao to Sunderland.
