Oblak: Penalties Turned the Match Against Villarreal, We Must Support Alvarez
Jan Oblak, captain of Atlético Madrid, spoke about his team's 2-2 draw against Villarreal in their La Liga match, emphasizing that the awarding of two penalties and the red card shown to one of his teammates changed the course of the game.
Oblak stated: "We did the hard part, took the lead, then everything turned around. Two penalties were awarded against us, and I don't know what to say. I didn't see the first penalty well, but for the second one, if all these things are going to be called, and all those pushes in the box, there would be 300 penalties in a season. The decision was made, and they scored both penalties. Then we equalized, but we lacked a bit of strength, and playing with one less player was difficult."
Regarding the situation of Argentine Julian Alvarez, Atletico Madrid's captain said: "I think we all need to stay united, Julian is with us in the team, and as long as he is here, we will support him. We want him in the best possible way because we know what he can offer. This is an uncomfortable situation for everyone, and we hope it gets resolved so that we can all be happy at the end of the season."
Regarding the team's reaction after falling behind, Oblak stated: "This shows that the team wants to compete and win, and that it is not satisfied with just one point, but everything turned around after the penalty and the red card. The team gave everything it had to win, but it was unable to achieve it."
