Nottingham Forest in Race with Everton and Newcastle for Chelsea Striker
Nottingham Forest has entered the race to sign Liam Delap, the Chelsea forward, as uncertainty grows regarding the player's future with the London club during the current summer transfer window.
Chelsea is set to allow Delap's departure following a difficult first season in West London, during which the English striker struggled with injuries and inconsistent form, limiting his appearances and impact with the team.
According to "TEAMtalk", Nottingham Forest has joined Everton and Newcastle United in the race to sign Delap, while Chelsea has set their financial demands at around £40 million.
Chelsea signed Delap from Ipswich Town for £30 million a year ago, but the player has only managed to score two goals during his first season with the team, before falling further down the pecking order following the arrival of Danny Welbeck.
Nottingham Forest is searching for a new striker after Taiwo Awoniyi's move to Coventry City for £9 million. Meanwhile, Italian club Como is also considering the possibility of signing Liam Delap, but the player prefers to continue his career in the Premier League.
Sky Sports previously reported that Chelsea valued Delap at around £50 million, meaning the London club's financial demands have now dropped to £40 million as the transfer window approaches its closure.
