Coventry City Leads Race to Sign Mudryk
Coventry City has taken the lead in the race to sign Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk from Chelsea on loan during the summer transfer window, as the London club seeks to give him a chance to play regularly and regain his form after a long absence.
Mykhailo Mudryk, 25, made his return to the field this summer after nearly two years out, featuring for Chelsea against Juventus on August 5, marking his first appearance since 2024.
Chelsea is not keen on selling Mykhailo Mudryk permanently, especially since they signed him for an initial £62 million in 2023. However, the club believes that remaining on the bench will not help him regain his form and confidence.
According to "TEAMtalk", Coventry is moving aggressively to secure the player on loan, and Chelsea is welcoming the move, believing that Frank Lampard's attacking style could help Mudryk gain regular playing time.
Chelsea continues to see Mykhailo Mudryk as part of their long-term plans, despite interest from other European clubs, including Strasbourg and several Italian teams, according to AS. However, the player prefers to continue his career in England.
The loan gives Mudryk the opportunity to restore his level through consistent participation, while Coventry can benefit from his attacking abilities, with Chelsea retaining control over his future, especially since his contract runs until 2031.
