Rodri's Move to Barcelona Brings Cash Windfall for Atletico Madrid and Villarreal
Atletico Madrid and Villarreal are preparing to receive financial amounts from the transfer of Spanish player Rodri, currently at Manchester City, to Barcelona, following a preliminary agreement between the two clubs.
Spanish outlet "Mundo Deportivo" has reported that both clubs will benefit from FIFA's solidarity mechanism, which grants clubs that contributed to a player's development between the ages of 12 and 23 a percentage of the transfer fee.
Rodri started his career at Rayo Majadahonda, but he received no compensation after leaving the club at the age of 11, before joining Atletico Madrid and staying with them until he was 17.
If the transfer fee reaches €65 million fixed, along with €10 million in variables, Atletico Madrid will receive €1.625 million, while their share increases to €2 million if the transfer value hits €75 million.
Villarreal, where Rodri spent five seasons, including three with the first team, will receive €1.625 million from the fixed transfer fee, increasing to €1.875 million if the total deal reaches €75 million.
Atletico Madrid and Villarreal financially benefit from Rodri's move to Barcelona, thanks to the years the player spent at both clubs during his development and first-team career.
