Chelsea has clarified its position on the possibility of Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez leaving the club during the current summer transfer window, following the expiration of the deadline to sign him for £120 million.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has clarified that Chelsea informed Enzo Fernandez's camp back in May that a sum of £120 million would be available until a specified deadline, effectively serving as an agreed-upon release clause.

After the deadline passed, Enzo Fernandez is no longer available to leave Chelsea for £120 million, meaning the London club is not obliged to accept this amount as they received a new offer.

Chelsea is committed to keeping the player in the squad, and they have no objections to continuing to rely on him during the new season, given his status as one of the key elements in midfield.

Despite this, Enzo Fernandez has been open in recent times to the idea of leaving Chelsea for a new experience, amid interest from several European clubs.

Manchester City is at the forefront of clubs interested in signing the player, as they continue to monitor his situation despite the deadline for the £120 million fee having passed, while Chelsea remains adamant about keeping the Argentine midfielder.
