English competition for signing Monza striker

Tottenham and Chelsea have entered the race to sign Portuguese forward Gustavo Varela, who has caught attention by scoring 9 goals in his first 9 matches as a starter in Serie A.

TEAMtalk reported that representatives from both clubs attended the Monza match on Saturday to monitor the 21-year-old player, along with scouts from Newcastle, Brighton, Brentford, and Fulham.

Interest has spread to other European clubs, with representatives from RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, and Atlético Madrid tracking the player. He is also admired by SSC Napoli, Juventus, Milan, and Inter, alongside Arsenal.

Fariola has joined AC Monza from SL Benfica after impressing during his loan spell at Gil Vicente, catching attention with his ability to move within the penalty area and exploit spaces, as well as his maturity despite his young age.

The Portuguese forward is now on the radar of recruitment departments across Europe, and his performances may open the door for him to receive his first call-up to the senior Portuguese national team.
