Slot Reveals Why He Turned Down Netherlands Job

Arne Slot, the former manager of Liverpool, has revealed the reason behind his decision to turn down the opportunity to coach the Netherlands national team, clarifying that his choice was not related to salary or contract length, contrary to some reports circulating in recent times.

Slot stated: "In recent weeks, especially in the last few days, there have been numerous reports regarding the position of head coach of the Netherlands national team, and they mentioned my withdrawal from negotiations after lengthy discussions about salary and contract duration. However, these speculations are incorrect, as we haven't even reached that stage of negotiations."

He added: "At this stage of my career, I prefer to be on the pitch daily with the players in training, and this cannot be achieved with national teams in the same way, so I decided to stop the conversations and not enter into negotiations regarding the potential contract details."

The Dutch coach stated: "It would be a great honor for me to represent my country one day as the national team coach, but I felt that this was not the right time for me."

Slot left Liverpool at the end of May, after just one season in charge that saw him lead the team to the Premier League title, before the team's results declined in the following season.
