Araujo Joins Liverpool Without Fear Clause

Spanish newspaper Sport has revealed that the agreement between Barcelona and Liverpool regarding the loan of Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo does not include a 'fear clause' preventing him from facing his parent club.

Consequently, Araujo will be able to participate against Barcelona normally, should the draw pit the two teams against each other in the Champions League this season.

According to the newspaper, Liverpool will cover Araujo's full salary during the loan period, with a €55 million buy option included in the agreement.

Sport has reported that Araujo's decision to leave came after a direct conversation with coach Hans Flick, who informed him that competition for a starting position would be tough, given the coach's desire to rely on a left-footed center-back, with Pau Torres considered a key player in his plans.

Liverpool has moved to sign Araujo after the departure of Ibrahima Konate, alongside Virgil van Dijk's advancing age and the club's desire to strengthen its defensive options.
