Ipswich Town Signs Moroccan Defender Aissa Diop

Ipswich Town has officially announced the signing of Moroccan defender Issa Diop from Fulham, on a contract that runs until the summer of 2030. The transfer fee has not been disclosed.

Diop, 29, arrives at Ipswich after an impressive showing with the Moroccan national team in the 2026 World Cup, where he played five matches and helped the "Atlas Lions" reach the quarter-finals. He also scored a goal during the clash against the Netherlands in the tournament.

The Moroccan defender has extensive experience in the Premier League, having played 173 matches in the top flight with West Ham United and Fulham. He played for West Ham between 2018 and 2022 before moving to Fulham, where he has represented the club for the last four seasons.

Diop expressed his happiness about embarking on this new experience, saying: "I am extremely excited to take this step with Ipswich Town. I know very well the stature of this club, and from the first conversations, I felt that this was the right place for me. The summer has been busy after my participation with Morocco in the World Cup, but I look forward to joining my teammates and the fans soon."

Gary O'Neill, the team's coach, welcomed the signing, confirming that Diop represents a strong addition thanks to his extensive experience in the Premier League. He noted that Diop's strong personality and competitive ability, along with his impressive performances in the World Cup, will provide the team with a significant boost for the upcoming season.
