William Saliba, the Arsenal defender and France international, is close to avoiding surgery after recent medical tests showed positive results. According to French newspaper "L'Équipe," the latest examinations have provided encouraging news.

William Saliba has been dealing with a back injury for several months, yet he continued to participate with the French national team in the 2026 World Cup, before leaving the semi-final match against Spain in the first half due to worsening pain.

RMC Sport has clarified that the player competed in the tournament while suffering from a back injury, which has sparked expectations of him undergoing surgery after the competitions.

However, L'Équipe confirmed that the tests conducted by the player on Wednesday showed no deterioration in the injury, which has ruled out the option of surgery for the time being.

William Saliba will undergo a period of treatment and rehabilitation, with a final decision regarding his condition to be made in coordination with Arsenal at the beginning of next week.

L'Équipe previously indicated that the French defender could be sidelined for up to five months, depending on the development of his condition in the upcoming phase.
