Liverpool Decides Against Selling Gakpo to Tottenham
Liverpool has made its stance clear regarding the future of Dutch forward Cody Gakpo, deciding to retain the player and not allowing a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur during the current summer transfer window.
According to "TEAMtalk", Gakpo remains part of coach Andoni Iraola's plans, and Liverpool's management does not intend to let him go despite interest from several clubs.
The report indicated that Tottenham had prioritized Gakpo to strengthen their left wing, but Liverpool's refusal will push the London club to explore other attacking options during the transfer window.
The report added that Gakpo, 27, scored 9 goals in 52 matches with Liverpool last season, before regaining some of his form with the Netherlands at the World Cup, netting 3 goals and providing 1 assist.
The source confirmed that Liverpool plans to enhance their attacking options, not reduce them, which is why they continue to show interest in signing Frenchman Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, despite the challenges in completing the deal.
Meanwhile, Tottenham is considering other alternatives to bolster their attack, including Rafael Leão, Savinho, and Antonio Nusa, in anticipation of a potential failure to secure a deal for Gakpo.
