Alvarez Rules Out Premier League Return, Eyes Barcelona Move

Argentinian striker Julián Alvarez has made his stance clear regarding his future, turning down any offers from Premier League clubs, a move that boosts his chances of joining Barcelona during the summer transfer window.

According to Spanish newspaper "Sport", the player's decision is not specifically related to Arsenal or Liverpool, but reflects his desire to avoid a return to England, despite efforts from Arsenal's sporting director Andrea Berta and manager Mikel Arteta to explore the possibility of signing him.

The source added that Alvarez aims to narrow down his options and prevent English clubs capable of making substantial financial offers from entering the fray, which could strengthen Atlético Madrid's position in negotiations and increase the transfer fee.

Meanwhile, Barcelona president Joan Laporta confirmed that the club's offer to sign Alvarez remains on the table, but it will not stay open indefinitely, noting that the player is highly regarded by the coaching staff and the sporting management.

The report indicated that Laporta has been in contact with Atlético Madrid officials, with negotiations continuing with Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, in an attempt to persuade the Madrid club to open the door for discussions.

Atlético Madrid is keen on retaining Alvarez, but according to the Spanish newspaper, they are quietly applying pressure to fulfill his wish, as he rules out a return to England and considers Barcelona his preferred destination for the next phase of his career.
