Chelsea eye Como star as competition heats up for Lucas Da Cunha
Reports have revealed that Chelsea are still interested in signing French midfielder Lucas Da Cunha, who plays for Como, as several Premier League clubs keep an eye on the development of the 25-year-old.
According to a report published by "TEAMtalk", Chelsea have been following Da Cunha for a while, with interest in the player rising after he received his first call-up to the France national team under Zinedine Zidane and started against Belgium recently.
Chelsea are not the only club interested, as sources confirm that Manchester United, Aston Villa, Newcastle, and Brighton have also contacted Como to inquire about the player's situation, amid a clear rise in his stock in recent times.
This competition comes despite Da Cunha renewing his contract with Como for five years, a move that strengthens the Italian club's position and gives it greater power in dealing with any potential offers in the upcoming period.
A significant part of the player's development is attributed to coach Cesc Fàbregas, who changed his position from winger or attacking midfielder to a deeper midfielder, allowing him to deliver impressive performances in this role and become the captain of Como.
This development has contributed to Da Cunha's transition from a player relatively distant from the spotlight to one of the names that has caught the attention of European clubs, before he received the opportunity to represent the French national team for the first time.
Reports indicate that Chelsea are considering Da Cunha as part of their future plans to strengthen their midfield, while Como are under no immediate pressure to part with their captain after he signed a new contract.
