Deco Changes Barcelona's Transfer Strategy
Deco, Barcelona's sporting director, has adopted a new strategy for managing the transfer market that focuses on secrecy, speed, and reducing the number of participants in negotiations. This approach was evident in the Anthony Gordon deal and is currently being applied in the negotiations for Karim Adeyemi, according to Spanish newspaper "Sport."
The newspaper explained that Barcelona now prefers to conduct its negotiations away from the spotlight, holding meetings outside Spain or relying solely on calls and video conferences to minimize leaks about transfer news.
Additionally, Deco has been working on multiple files simultaneously while the media focuses on other names, leading to the swift conclusion of the Gordon deal. Hans Flick also made a direct call to the player to explain the sporting project.
The Spanish newspaper noted that Barcelona has followed the same method in the Karim Adeyemi case, starting negotiations with the player's camp before opening discussions with Borussia Dortmund, aided by agent Jorge Mendes.
The same source confirmed that this policy aims to prevent other clubs from entering the race for players after negotiations are leaked, which is why Deco relies on a limited circle of officials to manage key files.
Barcelona continues its transfer activities away from the limelight, with Deco striving to maintain this secrecy until the end of the summer transfer window.
