Police FC has officially announced the signing of Venezuelan defender Ruben Ramirez, who joins from Universidad Central, as part of their preparations for the 2026-2027 season.

The club's management released a statement via their accounts to present the deal, stating:

"Police FC announces the signing of international Venezuelan defender Ruben Ramirez to strengthen the first team. Ruben has an impressive professional career and significant international experience, and we are confident he will be a strong addition to our defense. We welcome Ruben to the Police family and wish him success with the team in upcoming local and continental competitions."

Ruben Ramirez, 30, has a diverse professional record in South America and Europe. He has previously represented the Venezuelan national team, giving him important international experience.

At the club level, he played in the Venezuelan league with Carabobo and Atletico Venezuela, then had a stint in Bolivia with Bolivar, and another in Peru with Cusco. He also had a European experience with Fortuna Sittard in the Dutch league before returning to Venezuela via Universidad Central.

The management of Police FC aims for Ruben to provide a strong addition to the team's defense, given the player's vast experience. The Green Lyre has undergone defensive changes this summer following the departure of Ahmed Basal to Al-Zawraa and the arrival of Maitham Jabar from Al-Zawraa.

Signing a 30-year-old foreign defender with international and European experience aims to fill the experience gap in the backline, especially with the team's expected participation in Asian competitions. Ruben is known for his physical strength, good positioning, and game reading, which are qualities needed by Police FC in major matches.

Ramirez's transfer is part of a series of moves by Police FC in the transfer market. After signing Maitham Jabar locally, Colombian Diego Hernandez, Nigerian Kingsley Koko, and Argentine Cristian Barco, the team's structure is now complete, blending local and international experience.
