Al-Hussein's Abdul Wahid reveals behind-the-scenes of draw with Al-Hussein Irbid

After the dramatic football showdown held at Al Zawraa Stadium in Baghdad, where Al-Shorta succeeded in snatching a last-minute equalizer against their Jordanian guests Al-Hussein Irbid, ending the match 1-1 in the third round of the AFC Champions League, coach Hussein Abdul Wahid and defender Maytham Jabbar made statements revealing the details of their tactical analysis and the reason for the complete turnaround in the second half.

Police Club's coach Hussein Abdul Wahid has confirmed that the team did not enter the first half as required and lacked organization and discipline, which allowed the Jordanian team to exploit spaces, impose their style, and score the opening goal.

Abdul Wahid explained: "Between the halves of the match, we corrected mistakes and made brave tactical changes to restore balance to the lines. In the second half, Al-Shorta showed their true character and we imposed absolute control over the course of the game, and we had complete faith in our comeback until the last minute."

The coach of Al-Shorta added: "The late equalizer proves the iron will and strong character of the team. Gaining a point and maintaining the lead is very important in the group stage calculations, and this match will be an important lesson for us to avoid negatives in upcoming challenges."

Maytham Jabbar, the rock of Al-Shorta's defense, expressed his pride in the high spirit shown by his teammates in the final moments of the match, confirming that the scenario of the game was extremely difficult against a well-organized and defensively compact team.

Jabbar said: "In the first half, we were not in our usual form and were affected by some details, but the coaching staff clarified everything at halftime, and we entered the second half with a single intention: to compensate and return with the result, no matter the cost."

The international star concluded his statement by saying: "The fans who supported us in the stands until the 95th minute were the biggest support and motivation not to give up. We apologize to them for the delay in the result and promise them to deliver our best performances in the upcoming rounds to maintain the top of the group and fight for the qualification spot."
