Surprising Clause in Christensen's Contract Settles Barcelona Future
Barcelona has resolved the uncertainty surrounding Danish defender Andreas Christensen's future by extending his contract until June 2028, but the new deal includes a clause allowing the club to terminate it early.
According to Spanish newspaper "Marca," Christensen agreed to reduce his salary to facilitate the renewal, aligning with the club's financial situation.
The report added that Barcelona can terminate the final year of the contract in the summer of 2027 if the player does not participate in 30% of official matches during the 2026/2027 season, with a minimal financial compensation as per the contract.
This clause stems from the recurring injuries Christensen has faced over the past two seasons, which have significantly impacted his continuity with the team.
Despite this, Hans Flick and the sporting management still have great confidence in the Danish defender, considering him an important asset when fully fit.
