Casemiro, the Brazilian national team midfielder, confirmed that the Seleção has the components that qualify them to compete for the 2026 World Cup title, following their thrilling 2-1 victory over Japan in the round of 32 and advancing to the round of 16 of the tournament.

Casemiro scored the equalizing goal for Brazil during the match, before Gabriel Martinelli snatched the winning goal in stoppage time.

Casemiro said in statements reported by the official website of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA): "Our greatest strength was the mentality we played with. We continued to press in the attacking third of the field, and in the World Cup, it's crucial to appreciate the importance of players coming off the bench."

He added: "Endrick came in and played a great match today, and Martinelli is also a great player, and Rayan is excellently compensating for Raphinha's absence."

The Brazilian midfielder concluded his remarks by saying: "This is the spirit, and this is the group capable of winning the World Cup."

By advancing to the Round of 16, the Brazilian team awaits the winner of the match between Ivory Coast and Norway to face them in the next round of the 2026 World Cup.
