FIFA Suspends Assim Madibo for Five Matches

Thursday 25-06-2026
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has decided to suspend Qatari national team player Assim Madibo for five matches, following his violation of Article 14.1.e of FIFA's disciplinary code, which pertains to violent play or unsportsmanlike conduct. This decision comes after his tackle on Canadian player Ismael Kone, which resulted in a serious injury.

Madibo had already missed the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 2026 World Cup, but Qatar's exit from the tournament before completing the suspension means that the ban will not end with the conclusion of Al Annabi's participation.

According to FIFA regulations, unfulfilled sanctions are carried over to the next official matches of the national team, which means the player will continue to serve the remainder of his suspension in Qatar's upcoming official commitments.

Thus, Madibo will be required to miss four more official matches with the Qatari national team before he becomes eligible to return to international participation again.
