Serious Injury Strikes Canadian Player

Ismael Kone, the Canadian national team player, suffered a severe injury during his country's match against Qatar, as part of the second round of the group stage in the 2026 World Cup.

The injury occurred after a violent tackle from Qatari player Issam Madibo, necessitating the urgent entry of the medical team to provide first aid to the Canadian player, who remained on the field for more than 10 minutes amidst concern among players and fans.

Initially, the match referee showed a yellow card to Madibo, but after receiving information from video technology, he decided to change his decision and gave the Qatari player a direct red card due to the severity of the tackle.

Kone left the field on a stretcher amidst applause from the attending fans, but he was conscious and managed to greet the fans as he exited the field, in a scene that somewhat reassured the fans about his condition.

Although no official statement regarding the nature of the injury has been released yet, initial observations suggest that the player may be sidelined for a long period, as he appears to be suffering from a serious injury to his left leg.
