Marsch criticises FIFA's decision on Balogun: "This wouldn't happen in any other country"
Jesse Marsch, the head coach of Canada, has criticized FIFA's decision to suspend the ban imposed on USMNT forward Folarin Balogun, stating that the decision reflects a sentiment among Americans that their country deserves different treatment from the rest of the world.
Jesse Marsch spoke, before the friendly match against Canada, scheduled for Tuesday evening in Minnesota, in comments reported by The Guardian: "As Americans, we have been indoctrinated since we were young. We were told that we are the number one country in the world, that we deserve everything, and that we are number one in every aspect of life."
He added: "When certain things happen and we feel that we are not in control of them, we feel that we deserve to be treated differently because we are Americans. This is one of the things that angers the rest of the world towards Americans."
Marsh continued, criticizing FIFA's decision: "I feel that this would not happen in any other country in the world, and that is why everyone hates the United States around the world."
Canada's coach concluded his remarks by saying: "The United States had a good World Cup, and they were doing well. All of that changed in an instant."
