Jonathan David Confuses Juventus' Plans

Friday 19-06-2026
The Italian club Juventus is facing challenges in the summer transfer market, given the stance of Canadian forward Jonathan David, who does not wish to leave his career with the team after just one season in the Italian league. This could hinder the club's plans to sign a new striker, according to reports from Italy.

David joined Juventus in the summer of 2025 on a free transfer with a contract extending until the summer of 2030. He earns an annual salary of 6 million euros, in addition to incentives reaching up to 2 million euros.

Despite his previous success in the French league with Lille, where he scored more than 17 goals in a single season, the player did not manage to deliver the same performance during his first season in the Italian league. He ended the season with 6 goals in 35 league matches and 8 goals in 46 matches across all competitions.

This situation arises as Juventus seeks to strengthen its attacking line after failing to qualify for the Champions League, with the contract of striker Dusan Vlahovic nearing its end. This prompts the club's management to search for a new forward to support the team under the leadership of Luciano Spalletti.

According to what was published by "La Gazzetta dello Sport," David insists on continuing with Juventus and not leaving after just one season, affirming his desire to prove himself within the team.

However, this situation may complicate the club's task of signing a new striker, especially given the player's continued high salary, along with the difficulty of completely parting ways with Lois Openda during the summer transfer window, in addition to the financial constraints resulting from Juventus' absence from the Champions League.
