Lopetegui's Remarks After the Draw Against Switzerland in the World Cup

Julen Lopetegui, the coach of the Qatari national team, spoke in a press conference following the 1-1 draw against Switzerland at San Francisco Bay Arena in the first round of Group B matches in the 2026 World Cup.

The coach said in his statements after the match: "We had to be prepared, and we analyzed the Swiss team as they had only conceded two goals in their European qualifiers campaign, and we knew they had high quality."

He added, "We had the best chance at the beginning of the match, and then they were awarded a questionable penalty for offside, allowing the Swiss team to take the lead. However, we showed great resilience and did not lose focus, and we managed to snatch an equalizing goal."

He concluded: "The next match will be the toughest because it is against Canada, one of the host countries, and they will be playing in front of their home crowd. We need to be well-prepared after recovery, especially since the players have exerted a lot of effort."
