Qatar Snatches a Dramatic Draw from Switzerland in the World Cup

The Qatari team drew 1-1 with its Swiss counterpart in the match that took place on Saturday evening at Levi's Stadium, as part of the first round of the group stage in the 2026 World Cup.

The Swiss team opened the scoring early through Breel Embolo in the 17th minute from a penalty kick, ending the first half with a 1-0 lead.

As the match was heading towards a Swiss victory, the Qatari team managed to snatch a dramatic equalizing goal during injury time, with Boualem Khoukhi scoring the equalizer in the 90+5 minute with a brilliant header after a cross from Homam Al-Amin Ahmed.

With this draw, each team secured one point at the start of their journey in the tournament, within the competitions of Group B.

It is worth noting that Canada and Bosnia also ended in a draw in the same round, leaving all four teams with one point each.
