Barcelona Targets Promising Australian Talent
The young Australian defender Lucas Herrington has caught the attention of Barcelona after impressing with his performances for the Colorado Rapids and the Australian national team.
The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that the Catalan club is interested in signing the 18-year-old player, noting that Colorado Rapids rejected an initial offer from Barcelona worth 10 million euros.
Since joining the American club last January with a contract extending until 2029, Herrington has participated in all matches, scoring a goal and providing an assist, benefiting from his defensive abilities and quality in playmaking.
The newspaper also pointed out that the Brisbane club in Australia faced criticism after selling 20% of the player's rights to Colorado Rapids for only half a million euros, at a time when his market value is increasing and major clubs are showing interest in signing him.
