Yemen Defeats Lebanon and Qualifies for the Asian Cup

The Yemeni national team has qualified for the 2027 Asian Cup finals to be held in Saudi Arabia, after defeating Lebanon in the decisive postponed qualifying match with two goals to none.

The Yemeni team took the lead with the first goal by Nasser Mohammedou in the 62nd minute after a pass from substitute Adel Qassem in his first touch.

In the 90th minute, the outstanding Nasser Mohammedou sealed the deal with the second goal after a pass from his fellow substitute Mamdouh bin Ajaj, who had entered moments earlier.

Thus, the Algerian coach Nouredine Ould Ali triumphed over his compatriot Majid Bougherra, the coach of Lebanon, as the Yemeni team topped Group B with 14 points, qualifying by a one-point margin over their Lebanese counterpart.

The Yemeni team will be in Group E in the finals alongside South Korea, the UAE, and Vietnam.
