Qatar Falls in Friendly Match Against Ireland in Preparation for the World Cup

The Qatari national team lost to its Irish counterpart by one goal to nil in a friendly match held in the Irish capital, Dublin, as part of "Al Annabi's" preparations for the 2026 World Cup finals.

The match served as an important test for Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui ahead of the World Cup, as the coaching staff aimed to assess the players' readiness and experiment with some names and tactical elements.

The Qatari national team continues its preparation program for its second participation in the World Cup, having qualified for the 2026 edition through the qualifiers, following its first appearance in the 2022 World Cup held on its home soil.

"The 'Maroons' are set to conclude their preparations with a final training camp in the United States, which will include a friendly match against the El Salvador national team, before starting their World Cup campaign against Switzerland on June 13."
