Developments in Juventus: Major Deals and a Rescue Plan
The Italian newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport" revealed that Italian coach Luciano Spalletti has entered a series of meetings and direct talks with John Elkann, the chairman of the "Exor" group that owns Juventus, to lay the foundations for the team's project for the next season, despite the tense atmosphere following the team's loss to Fiorentina in the Italian league.
The newspaper explained that Spalletti is still committed to his project with "The Old Lady" and believes in his ability to bring the team back to competing both locally and in Europe.
According to the report, the coach has already set his technical priorities for the summer transfer window, foremost of which is signing Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker from Liverpool before the World Cup kicks off, in addition to acquiring a holding midfielder with similar characteristics to Stanislav Lobotka, who previously excelled under Spalletti's leadership at Napoli.
The coach is also looking for a defender who excels at building from the back, with the name of South Korean Kim Min-jae, a Bayern Munich player, being among the potential options.
The newspaper added that Spalletti also wants to include an attacking player capable of making a difference against tight defenses. However, the chances of signing Portuguese player Bernardo Silva seem very slim if Juventus fails to qualify for the Champions League.
In the attacking line, the management believes that having the Frenchman Randal Kolo Muani alone will not be sufficient, while negotiations to renew the contract of the Serbian Dusan Vlahovic remain unresolved.
"La Gazzetta" indicated that the future of the project is directly linked to the financial revenues from the Champions League, as Juventus' absence from the tournament could deprive the club of about 60 million euros, which would force the management to sell some players to finance new deals.
Spalletti and Elkann are expected to hold a new meeting early next week to lay out the first practical steps for next season's plan, pending the outcome of the final round of the Italian league.
