Real Madrid Considers Reacquiring Mario Gila

Real Madrid has started to look for a new defender during the upcoming summer transfer window, due to the current shortage the team is experiencing in the center-back position following a series of injuries and absences that have affected this area throughout the season.

The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" confirmed that Real Madrid's management is considering Spanish defender Mario Gila as a potential addition to strengthen their defense. They are benefiting from the club's prior knowledge of the player's abilities, as he progressed through the team's academy before moving to Lazio in Italy.

Real Madrid is facing a complex situation in the center-back position, especially with David Alaba nearing his departure at the end of his contract, along with Eder Militao's continued absence due to a new injury. The team currently relies on Antonio Rudiger, Dean Housen, and Raul Asensio.

The report indicated that Gila has been delivering strong performances with Lazio since his transfer to the Italian club in the summer of 2022 for six million euros, with Real Madrid retaining 50% of the player's rights, a move that gives the royal club an advantage in any future dealings regarding him.

The Spanish defender's contract with Lazio extends until June 2027, and he has attracted the interest of several clubs recently, most notably AC Milan, following his performance in the Italian league this season.

Gila played 30 matches with Lazio in the Italian league during the current season, while he missed some games due to suspension and two physical issues with his knee and ankle, in addition to participating in five matches in the Coppa Italia.

He also enjoys full confidence from coach Sarri, who has consistently relied on him since his arrival at the Italian team, which has contributed to his clear development in recent years.
