Liverpool have suffered a setback in their attempts to sign French winger Michael Olise from Bayern Munich, after journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the German club is preparing to open contract renewal negotiations for the player, following the extension of Harry Kane's contract.

Oles, 24 years old, has delivered standout performances since his transfer from Crystal Palace, contributing to 115 goals in 121 matches, scoring 54 and assisting 61.

Romano pointed out that renewing Ulysse's contract will be Bayern's next task, having already rejected an offer from Real Madrid to sign him during last summer.

The French winger is contracted until 2029, with a value estimated at around €180 million. TEAMtalk reported that the player does not wish to leave at the moment, and that Real Madrid is the only destination that could persuade him to leave Bayern, given his reluctance to return to the Premier League.

The network added that Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City are interested in signing him, while the player is showing openness to renewing his contract with Bayern, who are looking to ensure his continuation.

Liverpool had inquired about the possibility of signing Oulis last summer, considering him a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, but Bayern's moves to renew his contract make the deal difficult.
