Roma Considering Signing Greenwood

Saturday 16-05-2026
Roma's management is exploring the possibility of signing Mason Greenwood, a player from Marseille, during the summer transfer window, according to 'La Gazzetta dello Sport'. The execution of the deal is contingent upon the team's qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

Greenwood had an outstanding season in the French league, contributing with 26 goals and several assists over 44 matches. The 'Tutto Mercato' website indicated that coach Gian Piero Gasperini has identified the former Manchester United player as his primary attacking target.

Greenwood is part of a potential attacking project alongside Donyell Malen, who is considered one of the most impactful signings in the Italian league this season, which could provide Roma with significant offensive strength if the deal is completed.

The main obstacle lies in the value of the deal, currently estimated at around 50 million euros, with Manchester United retaining a percentage of any future sale, making a price reduction unlikely.

Reports also indicated that Roma's relationship with Marseille is good, as seen in the transfer of Robinho Vaz, yet the financial commitment required remains substantial.

Roma is only considering this deal if they secure qualification for the UEFA Champions League, with two matches remaining in the season.

The deal could be financed through some potential departures within the team, with Solly and Manu Koné expected to be among the top candidates to leave during the summer, which could provide financial resources for a major deal.
