Declan Rice: We Aim to Win the Premier League
Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice appeared in a press statement following the 1-0 victory over Newcastle in the 34th round of the English Premier League, held at the Emirates Stadium.
The player said in his interview: "I think we said after our defeat last week [against Manchester City] that we need to win five matches if we want to win the Premier League. We've won one, and now we have four matches ahead. Our goal was to win regardless of the method."
He added, "These are exciting times. There's a lot to play for."
He continued, "The match against Newcastle is always very difficult, as they have incredible players capable of causing damage at any moment."
He stated, "We could have performed better in front of the goal in the second half, as we had the opportunity, but we lacked the decisive pass. However, in the end, we secured three points and a fantastic goal from Eberechi Eze, which makes the weekend better, so the situation is good."
He concluded on how to handle pressure and crowd tension: "We ignore all of that. We've reached this stage for a good reason, as you know. There will always be noise, from the home team's fans, the away team's fans, and people outside. It's about ignoring everything and believing in our abilities, and that's simply about winning football matches. And we will continue to do that."
