Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola appeared in a press conference following the thrilling 2-1 victory over Southampton in the semi-final, in the match held at Wembley Stadium.

The coach said after qualifying for the final: "An exceptional performance. It was a tough match, but the wingers changed the course of the game as soon as they came on."

He added about Southampton's goal, "The first time they crossed the halfway line, they scored a fantastic goal. Football is always unpredictable, but our play in the second half was exceptional."

When asked if he expects Nico Gonzalez to score the winning goal: "No, I expect that more from the wingers and forwards, but he deserves it. He has had an amazing season, and what a goal! He needs to have more confidence in himself, trust his abilities, and not play cautiously. This is the mentality he should have as a holding midfielder. He is a young player, and he can develop a lot."

Regarding what he said to Tijjani Reijnders after substituting him: "I told him I wanted to kill him because of how well he performed. Tijjani is another player who hasn't played in recent matches, but he delivered an outstanding performance."

He concluded: "It's always great to be here and compete against the best teams. No team has ever reached four consecutive finals. It's an exceptional achievement, and we hope to reach the finals with strong momentum."
