The Police Club succeeded in overcoming its guest Al-Qasim with a score of 3-1, in the match that brought the two teams together this Wednesday afternoon at the Police Stadium as part of the 30th round of the Iraqi Stars League, raising the 'Harp' score to 63 points and holding onto second place.

The match started against all expectations, as Al-Qasim, at the bottom of the standings, surprised its host Police with an opening goal from a penalty kick successfully converted by Alaa Mohsen into the net, putting Police under pressure early and shocking the fans present in the 'cage'.

The early goal confused Moamen Suleiman's calculations, and Police pushed forward with all its might to equalize before matters became more complicated against a team playing without any pressure after its official relegation was confirmed.

Police did not delay much in responding, and in the 26th minute, defender Munaf Younis succeeded in equalizing the score with a header from a corner kick, bringing the match back to the starting point and restoring calm to the stands.

Despite Police's complete control over the proceedings, the lead goal was delayed until the final minutes. Al-Qasim held firm defensively and closed its areas, and almost left with a historic point from the runner-up's stadium.

But the 86th minute brought relief for Police, when the professional Lionel Atiba managed to score the second goal after a solo effort, putting his team in the lead for the first time in the match. In the 91st minute, Sharif Abdul Kazem ended everything with the third goal, confirming the Harp's 3-1 victory.

The win raised Police's score to 63 points in second place, temporarily reducing the gap with the leader Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya to 6 points, pending Al-Jawiya's result in the same round. The 'Harp' maintained its slim hopes of competing for the title with 5 rounds remaining.

As for Al-Qasim, its score froze at one point in the 20th and last place, after receiving its 29th loss this season. The team was officially relegated to the Premier League and is playing the remaining rounds just to fulfill obligations.
