The Egyptian Football Association announced the appointment of referee Mohamed El-Ghazi to officiate the match between Zamalek and Pyramids, as part of the third round of the final stage of the championship group in the Egyptian Premier League. This highly anticipated match will bring together the league leader and its direct pursuer in an intense battle for the top spot.

Zamalek tops the championship group standings with 46 points, leading by just two points over Pyramids, who are in second place. This gives the upcoming match a decisive character in the race for the Egyptian Premier League title.

The spotlight is on referee Mohamed El-Ghazi, who is considered a good omen for Zamalek fans, having officiated four matches for the team since his debut in the Premier League in January 2023, all of which ended in victories for the Whites, comprising three league matches and one in the Egypt Cup.

The first match officiated by Al-Ghazi for Zamalek was against Pharco in the 2022-2023 season, which ended with a 2-0 victory for the Whites. The match featured a penalty kick from which Abdullah Al-Saeed scored the first goal.

The referee was absent from officiating Zamalek's matches last season, but returned this season to lead three new encounters, in which the team achieved victories over Tala'ea El Gaish with a score of 3-1, and over ZED with a score of 2-1 in the league, in addition to a win against Baladeyet El Mahalla with a score of 1-0 in the Egypt Cup.

On the other hand, Pyramids also have a positive record with the same referee, having won 4 out of 5 matches officiated by Mohamed El-Ghazi, with only one loss against Modern Sport, ending 2-1 this season. The match featured two penalty kicks and the expulsion of Pyramids player Mohamed El-Sheibi.

Pyramids' victories under Ghazi's leadership were distributed across matches against Al Mokawloon Al Arab, Tala'ea El Gaish, and Pharco, in addition to a 2-1 win over Enppi, reflecting a relative balance in results ahead of the anticipated clash between the two teams.
