Allegri: Continuing with Milan, and We Haven't Secured Champions League Qualification
Coach Massimiliano Allegri, the manager of AC Milan, emphasized the importance of focusing on collecting points in the crucial stage of the season, stressing that the team's goal is to secure qualification for the Champions League. He also reassured about his future with the club.
Allegri said in statements following the 1-0 victory over Hellas Verona: "We played a complicated match after two consecutive losses, and as the end of the season approaches, the pressure and fear of not achieving the goal increase."
He added: "Facing Verona is always difficult despite their position in the standings, because they rely on quick counter-attacks. We could have performed better, but the most important thing now is to achieve victories to qualify for the Champions League."
The Italian coach pointed out the importance of the result at this stage, saying: "At this time, the result is more important than beautiful performance. Everyone showed great commitment without the ball, and this is a positive thing."
Regarding the substitutions, Allegri commented on replacing Rafael Leão, saying: "He played a good match and created a goal, but I needed a forward with different characteristics, and everyone must accept their role, whether starting or on the bench."
Regarding the team's position in the standings, he said: "We haven't secured qualification for the Champions League yet, but we are close."
He concluded about his future in light of being linked to coaching the Italian national team: "There are no contacts, my full focus is with Milan. We started a project together and we will continue with it."
