Latest Developments on Rashford's Future with Barcelona
Saturday 18-04-2026
The future of Marcus Rashford with Barcelona remains undecided two months before the end of the season, amid new developments coming from England, as Manchester United does not rule out the return of its striker to Old Trafford, according to the Spanish newspaper 'Sport'.

Barcelona has the option to purchase the player for 30 million euros, but doubts have begun to increase within the Catalan club recently, especially due to the player's high salary, complicating the possibility of reaching a long-term agreement, despite Rashford's willingness to make some concessions to continue with the team.

The Spanish newspaper indicated that Barcelona's sports management is generally satisfied with the player's performance this season, as he participated in 43 official matches wearing the club's jersey and scored 12 goals. However, some performances in major matches, such as the encounter against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, have led to a reassessment of the deal as previously agreed.

On the other hand, Manchester United does not wish to modify the initial terms of the agreement with Barcelona and sees any change as currently off the table, with the possibility of reclaiming the player if the Catalan club does not activate the purchase option.

Manchester United's coach Michael Carrick spoke at a press conference, confirming that he does not rule out the player's return, saying: 'I think decisions will be made at the right time, Marcus is in that position,' adding: 'At this moment, nothing is settled, but a time will come when the decision will be made.'

Carrick explained that if Rashford returns to the team, he will work on supporting and helping him, saying: 'With any player here, I want to work and help him develop. We have players on loan, and what will happen later will happen, but as a coach, we always want to get the best out of everyone.'

According to the same source, Rashford's return to Manchester United does not necessarily mean his continuation with the team next season, as the club believes his performance in Spain has increased his value in the transfer market, which could provide an opportunity to make a suitable sale without offering any discounts, especially with continued interest in him in the Premier League, along with his positive performance during his previous loan spell with Aston Villa.

In the same context, Barcelona continues to cautiously evaluate Rashford's file, without responding to any pressures from Manchester United, while considering several alternatives in the transfer market, including younger and less costly options in terms of salaries.
