Maradona's Doctor Insists on His Innocence: 'I Feel Deep Sadness but I Am Not Guilty'
Thursday 16-04-2026
Leopoldo Luque, the personal doctor of the Argentine legend Diego Maradona, reiterated his innocence regarding the charges against him in the global star's death case during the ongoing new trial sessions in Argentina.

Loki told the court, "I am innocent and deeply saddened by his death," emphasizing that he did not commit any medical error that led to his passing.

These statements come as part of a renewed trial involving seven medical staff members accused of negligence, as they face charges of causing Maradona's death in 2020, shortly after he underwent brain surgery.

The claim asserts that the medical team failed to provide the necessary care, leading to a serious deterioration in his health condition.

On the other hand, the defendants defend themselves by saying that Maradona's death was a natural result of his complex health condition and long history of illnesses and addiction, arguing that they are not responsible for the tragic end of the Argentine star.

Loki asserts that he has become a "scapegoat" in a case that is receiving widespread public and media attention.

This is the second trial after the first was canceled in 2025 due to legal violations. The defendants face penalties that could result in long prison sentences if convicted, amid great anticipation in Argentina to uncover the truth behind the death of one of the greatest legends in football history.
