Massive Security Reinforcements for Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona Champions League Match
According to reports from Spanish media, the government delegation in Madrid stated that nearly 1,500 security and emergency personnel will be deployed as part of the security plan for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final match between Atlético Madrid and Barcelona. The match is scheduled to take place on Tuesday evening at 9 PM Cairo time at the Metropolitano Stadium.
The delegation clarified that around 3,500 Barcelona fans are expected to attend in a stadium with a capacity of about 69,000 spectators, where the audience attendance for the match will be complete.
The reports confirmed that the match was classified as high-risk by the Permanent Committee of the State Committee for Combating Violence, Racism, Xenophobia, and Intolerance in Sports.
Accordingly, the two clubs will implement additional security measures in the ticket sales process, along with separating the fans of both teams inside the stadium, while enhancing preventive measures by the security forces.
The security plan includes the participation of elements from the Spanish National Police, including rapid intervention units, the cavalry unit, information police, the subway unit, the drone unit, police dog units, mobile police, as well as the Civil Guard and the Madrid Municipal Police.
The operation also involves the ambulance service, firefighting teams, traffic police, and the Red Crescent, in addition to security personnel and club monitors, with an increased presence of security supervisors in the Madrid Metro network.
